• Legislation that will provide priority preference for veteran-owned small businesses contracting throughout the Federal government and the validation of every “veteran-owned business” registration maintained in the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) of the government.
• Legislation to amend the Federal Transportation Equity Act for 21st Century (TEA-21) by the establishment of priority contracting goals for veteran-owned small businesses under all TEA-21 funded programs.
• Legislation that will provide target funding to enhance the operations of the Community Based Organizations (CBO) across the U.S. to help improve services to veterans needing business development assistance. USAVETBIZ does not support “separatist” government sponsored business development assistance programs for veterans.
• Legislation that will provide specialized federal tax credits for businesses that hire veterans.
• Legislation that will bolster the vocational rehabilitation programs of the Department of Veterans Affairs for eligible service–disabled veterans needing to be self- employed as a small business owner.
State Liaison
• Working with Members and advocates around the country, USAVETBIZ will support as appropriate all local or state initiatives which bolster recognition and increased opportunity for veteran in business.
• USAVETBIZ will establish via the National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs supportive programs and alliances for local veterans in business outreach and educational activities.
